red nose will be speaking at the 4th illustrator's conference ICON4 july6-9, the session is called Peripheral Visions and i will be presenting along with Molly Zakrajsek, Mark Todd and Esther Pearl Watson.
the synopsis:
Your style defines you, but sometimes you need to step sideways to keep your
groove from becoming a rut. How do you go about stretching yourself and
experimenting with new things? See the projects that illustrators initiated
to step outside of themselves and blaze a new trail.

bitter taste of defeat
at the art vs. art event on may 6th in indy, my painting made the cut
for the top 16 however in the first round it was decisively beaten. it
was kindly saved from destruction by a lovely lady in a slightly heated
auction. the painting that kicked my butt, did go on to win the
championship. kudos to the guy that painted the robot and bunny. next
year.....

art vs art 2004
art vs art is a competition here in indy where artists create a painting on site in the same amount of time (4 hours) with the exact same materials.
then the public picks their favorites, all paintings remain anonymous. 16 paintings are selected for the main event and the paintings go head to head in single elimination bouts. the losing paintings then face the wheel of death and either get destroyed or auctioned off to the highest bidder.
last year my painting won by a slim margin.
you can vote online for the top 32 at:
