For He Can Creep a cover for Tor.com created for the delightfully devious wordsmithing of Siobhan Carroll
some of my favorite bits are:
“The imps run screaming, flitting into folds of space only angels and devils can penetrate.”
“The noise of his quill scritch-scritching is like the sound of ants eating through wood.”
recently saw a thread on twitter about the first idea of brainstorming always being the best. that is rarely the case for me. out of the 7 roughs i sent for this cover image, one of the last ideas i had was selected by the art director. my only requirement is that i only send roughs i am excited about. this one worked because i think it was less specific to the story, but more about the relationship between the two main characters.
the fabric for the chaoir was out of an old clairinet case that i have held onto for about 20 years. i am not a horder, i promise….
